let me say right away that i like the suggestion

but what is the criterion to be?

Sums of two squares  is right up there with the Bells, Fibs., Catalans,
primes, luckies, as a classic

- which i think Bob wants to exclude.

Can we have an analog in terms of music or painting?
Minimalist, perhaps?  Post-modern?

Or is it "little-known gems" ?

Golomb rulers are also (a) ancient and (b) well-known
