Virus mail and such

Hello Seqfan members,

This discussion about virus and email is probably leading
nowhere. Many things were not taken into account.

Remember that it is easy to harvest email addresses in
a variety of contexts and that spammers and virus senders
trade their email address lists.

Let just be prepared individually. I am sorry but I don't think
we can do something collectively or at the list level
more than we currently do (there are already various overt
and stealth measures taken on seqfan to block most common threats).
The list of subscribers cannot be accessed without logging
on the and is never communicated by me or Neil to anyone.

I consider we should stop this thread now on the list.

Please mind also all the subscribers who prefer a slow-paced
conversation.

Another note: I would like all the remaining subscribers
using webmails or applications adding advertisements
in signatures (such as Yahoo, aol, net, etc.) to switch to other
email addresses. I expect my University regulations to
become stricter and to silently block them one day.

I have (as many people do) 50 invitations to gmail for
those who are interested. PLEASE CONTACT ME OFF-LIST
if you want one.

Olivier
