Not to beat this to death, but by amusing coincidence, the latest issue of
Mathematics Magazine--in an article about articles in Mathematics
Magazine--cites "The indeterminate form 0^0" by Rotando & Korn (1977)
saying "Calculus instructors who assign exercises of the form lim x->0+
f(x)^g(x)...may wonder at the ubiquity of 1 as the answer." and asserting
this is true whenever f and g are essentially analytic (you can see the
articles for the exact conditions, fine print and other important legal
notices).
