This paper, by Lam et al. refers to the famous paper by Poonen and Rubinstein.

Note that the latter paper (which is now
published and available on the web)
 is related to several sequences, of such importance
that there is a special entry in the OEIS Index
for sequences related to it.  Here is the list:
