what to do when you only know a few terms

Gordon,  the primary application of the OEIS is for research.
It has been for 40 years.  But it isn't always obvious to
me which sequences won't be useful, so my tendency is to 
accept everything within reason.

I think Russ made a good point in his reply to your message
- that you can combine a search for a few numbers with a search
for words (like "graph" or "matrix").
