If x^0 is considered a power of x, then the sequence becomes
1, 2, 6, 12, 25, 85, 194, 590, 1695, 4879, 19077, 83994, 167988, 1041780
which as it turns out is already in the OEIS as A034875
Currently, only terms up to 1695 are listed, so the sequence should be extended (any volunteers?).

Yes.
How much difference does it make it x^0 is considered to be a power of
x? It looks like the 24 is the first change.
Franklin T. Adams-Watters
P.S. Note that x^y is generally used in the OEIS instead of x**y.
