It's true! I looked for it, but the search didn't return anything! Looks like I made a
mistake typing myself! My browser cache says I typed "5" for the dropping time of 3... (I
agree, "dropping" fits better than "stopping"!).
In fact, the interesting sequence, in my opinion, is the dropping time just for the
numbers of the form 4k+3, because if n=4k+1, then g(n)=12k+4 = 4(3k+1) and so g^3(n) =
(3k+1) < 4k+1 = n and therefore the dropping time is always 3.
So, I think we may add the related seq 6,11,8,11,6,8,96,... (dropping time function for
the Collatz-3x+1-Syracuse problem, evaluated in n=4k+3).
