the given maple code was incorrect, below the correct version.
Also, I don't like the current title,
"Version 1 of the "next prime" function: smallest prime >= n."
having the real meaning completely at the end.
Below I suggest a rewording, giving first the meaning, then additional
wording (which does not contain any concrete information). another
possibility would be:
  nextprime(n), version 1: Least prime >= n.
IMO it is important (for several technical and other reasons) to have
as much information as possible concentrated at the beginning of the
