I was amazed today when I learned that Beatty's theorem was actually
published three decades earlier than the famous Samuel Beatty's AMM
problem.
It was formulated in 1894 by John W. Strutt (Lord Rayleigh) in the
second edition of his book "The Theory of Sound".
