OK, that makes more sense than what I was thinking. But, how sure are
you that that is the global maximum, and not just a local maximum? I'd
like to see at least 1000 terms before I accepted that - and if you
have 1000 terms, how about submitting a b-file?

Hi Franklin,

Thanks for your feedback. I will submit a change request accordingly.
The second comment is misleading. It concerns sum (j=1..n, a(j)) / n.
I have written a PARI program to calculate it. Sure enough, the global
maximum
0.588 occurs at prime = 439. I will also submit a b-file.

Best regards,

Chris

A082077.

Actually, looking at the example section of A096693, the correct word
in this case is "mean". In fact, the whole clause "at the center (mode)
of" is nonsensical and should be removed.

Yes, 5 is the third prime, not the fifth.

I don't understand the second comment in A096693. At first I thought it
was a claim that a(n) has a maximum value of a(85) = 50; but a(85) = 2
is in the entry. Perhaps it is talking about the number of primes
being averaged? If so, it is almost certainly wrong.

Seqfans,

In the COMMENT section of A096693 and the EXAMPLE section of A082077,
the
term "mode" is used to refer to the center value in a numerically
ordered
subsequence of primes. I believe the term should be "median".

In addition, in the EXAMPLE section of A096693, 5 is clearly the 3rd
prime
and not the 5th as stated. Do you agree?

Best regards,

Chris
