The description of A089068 is weird.
If q defined as in the given Mathematica code, then it is simply equal to 1.
And for matrix {{0,1,0},{0,0,1},{1,1,1}}, the characteristic
polynomial is x^3 - x^2 - x - 1, implying that the elements (3,3) of
the powers of this matrix satisfies the recurrence given in A180667.
So, these sequence are indeed duplicates.
