Let me register the opposing opinion. On a number of occasions
recently, I have found the Wikipedia article on a subject to be more
complete and generally useful than the MathWorld article - in some
cases the latter did not even exist.

The danger of planted falsehoods in mathematical articles is pretty
small; really it's not large for Wikipedia as a whole. There are a lot
of people involved with that, and any change tends to get reviewed
pretty quickly. And for the same reason, the risk of innocent
misunderstandings is actually smaller in Wikipedia than in MathWorld.

None of which should be taken as a negative comment on MathWorld. It's
a very useful resource.

This is getting a bit off topic. We've made our points, which I think
are of general interest; but carrying on a debate here would be
inappropriate.

And instead of Wikipedia look at the MathWorld article linked from its
external links section. With the latter, you don't have to worry about
someone pranking you with planted falsehoods (or worse, innocent
misunderstandings). If you still need convincing Mathworld is much, much
better, consider that the Mathworld article has links to several
sequences
in the OEIS.
