I'm not objecting to this sequence, but it seems to me that it doesn't
really capture the spirit of the original idea - all we're getting is
differences involving zero.
Suppose we instead require only that every digit except the largest
must be the difference of two digits? (There remains the question of
how to handle having the largest digit present more than once.) This
trivially includes all single-digit numbers, but it also includes
things like 12, 24, 1235, etc.
