Names are names. The only "misnomer" would be if the name implies a  
property that is not correct. Any effect to give recognition where it 
is due is strictly a side benefit.

of all time -- so it is very surprising to look at this n-gram
in the Google viewer (n-gram count letter combinations or words
and phrases as found in over 5.2 million books digitized by

This raises the question "Who named Catalan numbers?". Igor Pak
pursues this question on his blog. What he found out shows that
this, as would be expected, is just another misnomer created
in the second half of the last century.
