Felix,

Your use of "uniform polytope" applies only to dimensions n>=3, so I
wonder if you might be confusing "convex uniform polytope" with
"convex uniform tiling." Anyway, in classifying convex uniform tilings
in dimension n=1, assuming that you intend for all vertices to be
identical, your two examples are the same because there is a
homeomorphism which transforms the second tiling into the first tiling
(which we take as the simplest representation). But that is true for
any examples you can give, so there is only one possible tiling, i.e.,
a(1)=1.
