Here's a similar idea. Start with 7 (smaller starting values are not interesting). Each subsequent term is the smallest number not yet used that appears in the decimal expansion of the reciprocal of any previous term. If I haven't made any mistakes, this starts:

7, 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 3, 14, 20, 25, 28, 33, 30, 35, 40, 42, 9, 11, 23, 6, 13, 16, 17, 21, 19, 15, 26, 29, 27, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 43, 31, 22

I'm counting 10 as appearing in the decimal expansion of 1: 1.0. If this is excluded, the only change is to move the 10 to follow the 29.
