Partly because of the backlog. There were almost 300 proposed changes last
time I checked, ranging from simple spelling corrections to new entries on
unfamiliar concepts. The simpler changes are likely to go through faster
than the more involved changes.

Case in point: your proposed changes to A081235 have already gone through.
The concepts of magic squares is well known enough, but the prime magic
squares mentioned in A259733 still need some verification and that's not
instantaneous.
