Can someone comment on the definition in A255231? I find for example
a(8) = 2 because 8 has the two representations 8^1 =2^3. 2^1*4^1 is not
counted because this has two distinct bases but only one distint exponent.
8=2^1*2^2 is not counted because there is one discinct base and two distinct
exponents.

For n=36 I find the representations 36^1 = 6^2 = 3^2*4^1 = 2^2*9^1, so a(36)=4,
not 3 as in the example.

My variant of the sequence starts for n=1..36 as
1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 4, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 5, 1, 1, 1, 4
