Hello Neil,
my answer to your 2nd question:
The signature in the Mediawikis has 2 links by default, one to
the user page followed by the link to the user's discussion page.
You can change that: Please open your personal "Preferences" page
on teh top menu bar, and locate the section "Signature". Inside
that section there is a checkbox:
Signature
Your existing signature: Gfis (talk)
Signature: [[User:Gfis|Georg Fischer]]
[X] Treat the above as wiki markup. If unchecked, the contents of
the box above will be treated as your nickname and link automatically
to your user page.
You should check that box, and in the field above you may enter
whatever WIKI text you want to appear during the 4 tildes "~~~~" expansion.
That will usualy be a link to your user page as in the example above.
The technical link goes before the bar and the clear text name behind.
You can customize the entry further with italics, bold, colors etc., or
even with a 2nd link.
Regards - Georg
