My two cents: maybe, but probably not.

The gap from 1936 to 1948, that's because of World War II, right? Then, in
1994, that's when they started separating the Winter Olympics, right? World
War III could cause another gap (a possibility I would have perhaps not
considered worth mentioning before November 2016).

This is not like Mercury or Venus transits, which will continue to occur
for the foreseeable future whether or not we're alive to observe them or
not.

Just my two cents.
