He means 317 digits.
R(317) is the next repunit prime after
1111111111111111111 and 11111111111111111111111 .

I think the %E line should go into the same Mmca comment,
do you agree ?
(and "-- ~~~~" should be "(* ~~~~ *)" for Mmca)
