but doesn't "sequences at research.att.com" do exactly that?

send it email,
with the line
lookup 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89 144

and you get the first 30 matches

of course 

lookup 1 1 2 3 5 8

or

lookup 2

won't tell you much.  you have to give it enough terms,
otherwise thousands of sequences will match it

about Wouter's suggestion,
i will perhaps do it this summer - i have
a summer student coming in to help
