still many transforms I know I'd like to include that I haven't written yet.

There's nothing surprising about that. When you multiply
the sum of k cubes in m different ways by a cube, the
result is the sum of k cubes in (at least) m different ways.

Specifically, (5,5,1) * 2 = (10,10,2), and
(6,3,2) * 2 = (12,6,4).

...

2008 = 2^3 × 251

2^3 is 2 cubed.

251 is the smallest number that can be written as the sum of 3
positive cubes in 2 ways. Specifically (he said, 4-banger calculator
in hand):
251 = 5^3 + 5^3 + 1^3 = 125 + 125 + 1
251 = 6^3 + 3^3 + 2^3 = 216 + 27 + 8

And, rather surprisingly, 2008 also can be written as the sum of 3
positive cubes in 2 ways.

2008 = 10^3 + 10^3 + 2^3 = 1000 + 1000 + 8
2008 = 12^3 + 6^3 + 4^3 = 1728 + 216 + 64
