I agree that this would be convenient. Languages like Perl or GP which
allow line comments should use them, but it would be nice to allow
languages like Mathematica which have only (AFAIK) block comments to
auto-sign, too.  When I author Mathematica programs I type my
signature manually, which is fine but probably more susceptible to
mistakes (misremembering the date, typos) and takes a bit longer.
