Many thanks, Lars -- I was asking myself exactly that: is there
a pattern that forbids the sequence to be extended?

An infinite quantity of "self-contradictory" integers like
10, 21, 32, 43, 54, 65, 76, 87, 98, ... exist, indeed, so why
not patterns.

Your 4016 terms are now here:

The sequence J seems to be finite (without using backtracking).

After 4016 terns the pattern to be matched by the next number is
(best viewed in a fixed font)

ExOOxOxOxOxx
2--e
4----e
6------e
8--------e
where E requires an even digit, O requires an odd digit, and x don't care.
As illustrated, all possible even numbers will require an even number
2,4,6,8 positions away, but all these positions already requires an odd
number.
