Dear SeqFans, If we just look at the white queens and ask how to place them so that they attack the least number of squares, we get a new pair of sequences A274947 and A274948. (Now the board only contains white queens.) The numbers were found by hand and may well be wrong. More terms are needed. This would give an upper bound on A250000.
