Hi David and Seqfans,

For about a year, I've been using the free editor Notepad++ on Windows. It
has the ability to convert among Windows format, UNIX/OSX, and "Old Mac
Format" -- and save the file properly (I've not used or tested the Mac
option).

There are a large number of useful extensions to Notepad here -- and dozens
of plugins, including NppCalc, which can evaluate math functions and insert
the results directly into the file being edited. (I created the b-file for
A160094 in this way.)

BTW, Notepad++ makes its source code available. Finally, I often have
dozens of files open simultaneously in different tabs (an especially handy
feature because they remain in the tabs by default when Notepad++ is
started the next time). [OK, can't resist mentioning column editing, line
sorting, and (b-)file comparisons also (latter requires Compare plugin).]

Rick
