Dear Neil

Try this. Write the following bookmark

javascript:window.location=location.protocol+'//'+'web.archive.org/web/20040405185800/http://'+location.hostname+location.pathname+location.search+location.hash;

(on a single line if it appears broken on the email; no space after http:)

Be cautious: do not type this in the window where you type the URL's but 
open your
file of bookmarks and type (or copy/paste) the line above. Call it 
something, like "hint".

Now every time you write in the url window a link to one of the things 
of Rusin, say
http://www.math.niu.edu/~rusin/known-math/95/numgrps
and you try to reach it, when you get "Not Found", just click (in your 
bookmarks) on
"hint" and you go automatically to the page saved on the time machine.
(You can then just copy the file or copy and paste the saved url)
