Very nice sequence! I'll try to study & check it.

Another possible sequence on the subject: delete the "monotonically increasing" condition and consider, at any step, the minumum possible number to be inserted, without repetition:

It should be...... 1, 10, 2, 4, 10001, 9, etc.
